Evaluation 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Editing and camera work
In our preliminary task our editing wasn't as good as the editing in our opening scene because we had only just been introduced to the editing software we were using; Adobe premiere elements 10. The camera work in our preliminary task was more organised than the camera work in our final opening scene. This is because the scenes we had in our opening scene was more complicated and we had to try to capture everything that was happening without disorientating the audience.

Editing terms and techniques
Our preliminary task included most of the editing terms and techniques that we were taught. We had used the 180 degree rule and the rule of thirds when the two characters were having a conversation. Match on action and shot reverse shot was used when the character was walking through the door into the class room. For our final opening scene we lost continuity in the middle of the opening scene because we didn't obey the 180 degree rule. Most of our scenes in the opening scene also showed the character in the middle of the screen, meaning we didn't obey the rule of thirds. At the end of our opening scene we use a shot reverse shot to show the antagonist standing back up after the protagonist asked "Who are you?" We did not use Match on action in our opening scene.
