Our target audience would be the teenage audience because they usually like fast paced chase scenes and fight scenes. They might also like a love interest in an action thriller film.
Action films tend to be slightly more popular with a male audience and we think that our opening would have appealed for the following reasons:
Empathising with characters:
Our opening scene gives the main protagonist prevalence which makes the audience empathise with the main protagonist. We also have lots of close up shots of the main antagonist which makes the audience empathise with him.
Escapism:
When the main protagonist first gets away from the antagonist the audience questions if the main protagonist has truly escaped from the close encounter with the main antagonist. This makes the audience forget about their real life problems and concentrate on what is going on in the film.
Entertainment:
Our opening scene is entertaining because there is a chase at the beginning of the opening scene and then there is a long build up to the final fight scene in the opening scene. The music also made our opening scene more entertaining because it built up tension in the audience.
